Thecla Gulcher van Styrum
It is with sadness that IFDCO reports the death of Thecla; second wife
of Conrad Gulcher whose vision and inspiration led to the design and
development of the FD Class.
Thecla worked very hard for the FD Class travelling around the world
supporting Conrad who was IFDCO General Secretary until 1988. After his
death in 1989, Thecla continued to provide guidance and inspiration and
was always very kind and considerate and keen to extol the virtues of
the FD. Thecla awarded the prizes each year at the Conrad Gulcher
Memorial regatta held at
Loosdrecht
the birth place of the FD.
At the 50th Anniversary Regatta, Thecla was delighted that the FD Class
was still alive and well.
