2003 OPEN DUTCH CHAMPIONSHIP FLYING DUTCHMAN

NOTICE OF RACE

Organising Authority: Yacht Club Workum, Dutch Contender Association and Netherlands Flying Dutchman Organisation.

1 Rules

The Regatta will be governed by the "rules" as defined in the RACING RULES of SAILING (RRS).

The "Dutch Championship Rules" will apply.

RRS Appendix N will apply.

2 Entries

Eligible boats may enter by registration with the Organising Authority not later than by the end of Monday September 1^th, 2003.

The entry form is available at the website www.contenderzeilen.nl respectively www.sailfd.com

Information regarding entry fees, prizes and social program can also be found there.

Registration

Every competitor shall register at the Regatta Office on Friday morning, September 5^thnot later than 11.00hrs.

Measurement Certificate, Advertising Certificate (if applicable) and valid Third Party Liability Insurance Certificate must be presented at registration.

4 Advertising

Competitors may be required to display advertising from an event sponsor in

accordance with the ISAF Advertising Code as per RRS, Appendix 1, Regulation 20.3.1 (d)(i).

5 Sailing Instructions

Sailing Instructions will be available at the Regatta Office as from 09.00 hrs on Friday morning, September 5^th.

6 Measurement and Sail Stamping

There will be no pre-race measurement or sail stamping.

During the Regatta any boat and its equipment are subject to examination at any time.

7 Courses

The courses will be an Olympic Triangle plus Windward-Leeward as further defined in the Sailing Instructions and will be laid out on the IJsselmeer near Workum.

The time limit for sailing the course as per RRS Article 35 will be 90 minutes.

8 Schedule of Races

The total number of races scheduled is 7.

First start on Friday, September 5^th will be at 13.00 hrs. Number of races planned: 2

First start on Saturday, September 6^th will be at 11.00 hrs. Number of races planned: 3

First start on Sunday, September 7^th will be at 11.00 hrs. Number of races planned: 2

All races on a single day will be back to back.

No races on Sunday will be started after 15.00 hrs.

9 Scoring

The Low Point System as per RRS, Appendix A will apply.

4 races shall be completed to constitute a valid regatta and championship.

When 5 or more races have been completed, each boat’s series score shall be the total of her race scores excluding her worst score.

10 Prizes

The winning boat in the FD class receives the title of Dutch Champion.

The winning boat in the Contender class receives the title of Class Champion.

The class organisations will also make available a number of prizes.

11 Liability and Insurance

Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See RRS rule 4 – Decision to Race. The organising authority will not accept any liability for material damages or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta.

Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third-party liability insurance with a minimum cover of Euro 500.000,00 per event.

12 Regatta Office

The Regatta Office (tel. 0515 542311) will open on Friday-morning at 09.00 hrs.

It is located in the south-western corner of Camping "It Soal", Suderseleane 29 in Workum, The Netherlands and can be reached through the entry gate of the camping.

Information

The regatta venue can be reached by taking exit 17 (Bolsward,Workum) on Dutch highway A7, continuing on road N359 to Workum and taking the second exit for Workum (opposite the Shell petrol station) and then following the signs for the camping "It Soal" through Workum.

The camping reception office at the entry gate is open till 22.00 hours on Thursday evening and from 08.00 hrs on Friday morning and will provide a magnetic key for passing the barrier against a bond of Euro 10,00.
